1. Who we are

Make me a checklist is a personal project, not a company. For our identity and contact details, see the Impressum. If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact us at support@makemeachecklist.de.

2. What data we collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the service:

• Email address — provided when you register, used to authenticate you.
• Checklist and template data — the content you create while using the app.
• Session cookies — strictly necessary to keep you logged in.
• Login events — each time you log in, we record the date and time and whether you accessed the app from a mobile or desktop device (inferred from your browser's User-Agent string). This is used solely for internal usage analytics.

We do not collect your name, phone number, or address.

3. How we use your data

• To create and manage your account.
• To store and display your checklists and templates.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. magic login links, email verification).
• To understand how the service is used (e.g. how many users access it on mobile vs. desktop), in order to improve the user experience. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We do not sell your data, use it for profiling, or share it with advertisers.

4. Third-party services

We do not currently use any third-party services that process your data.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies — session cookies required for login to work. These do not require your consent.

6. Data storage and retention

Your data is stored in a MongoDB database hosted on a cloud provider within the EU. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted — including your checklists, categories, and login event history.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

As a user based in the EU, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — ask us to delete your account and all associated data.
• Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
• Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
